Alcohol

When it comes to alcohol, you can divide it into two categories:

  • Alcohol as the commonly used name for ethanol. This type of alcohol is used for disinfection or can be found in alcoholic drinks.

  • Alcohol as the chemical category. It refers to a certain molecular structure.

The first type of alcohol is usually referred to as alcohol denat, but can be drying and irritating to the skin. The second type of alcohol is omnipresent in our lives.

In our care products we don’t use ethanol, but we do use the chemical category. Examples of alcohol we do use are: phenethyl alcohol (a preservative to avoid bacteria growth), tocopherol alcohol also known as vitamin E (derived from chamomile, a natural antioxidant which makes the product stable with oxygen), propanediol (derived from corn, used to make other ingredients soluble) and caprylyl glycol (found in coconut, acts as a preservative ans helps with hydration).

None of these forms of alcohol are associated with the negative side effects like skin dryness or irritation. They are perfectly safe for baby and kids’ products!
