Naïf suncare protects against both UVA and UVB radiation. Wondering what the difference is? UVA radiation ages the skin, and it can cause wrinkles or dark spots (sun damage). This UV radiation even penetrates through glass. UVB radiation causes sunburn and may affect your DNA, possibly leading to skin cancer.

Our sunscreen and after sun come in options with or without added perfume – we've got something for everyone! The ones without perfume have a 0% perfume label, just so you know. Oh, and here's a little bit of info: the mild perfume we use is synthetic, which means it's free from the 26 most common allergens. Better for your skin and gentle on our planet. Naïf sun care provides water resistance for up to 40 minutes and delivers immediate protection thanks to our zinc oxide-based UV filter. For optimal protection, we recommend applying a fresh layer of sunscreen after swimming. It's better to apply sunscreen frequently rather than sparingly! Fun fact: Did you know that the term "waterproof" is no longer applicable? No product is entirely waterproof.

Absolutely! Nearly all of our sun care products are suitable for use in snowy and cold weather, but it's advisable to leave the lotion at home. Our sunscreen lotion, which contains water, is not ideal for freezing temperatures. However, you can confidently bring our creams and sticks with you.

The main difference between a mineral and non-mineral UV filter lies in their origins and how they function. A mineral UV filter is derived from natural ingredients, forming a protective layer on the skin to shield it from harmful sun rays. Since this filter doesn't penetrate the skin, the risk of irritation or allergic reactions is minimized. A non-mineral UV filter is synthesized in a laboratory and absorbs into the skin, typically taking around 20 minutes to provide effective protection. Some non-mineral filters have been proven harmful to coral reefs. There's also a new generation of non-mineral UV filters. Although produced in a laboratory, they don't absorb into the skin, providing protection externally.

According to the EU rules for sunscreens, they say the max zinc oxide allowed is 25%. No worries, we're totally on board with those rules. Now, the exact percentage of our sunscreen? Well, that's our little mystery – gotta keep things intriguing, right? Good to know: all our sunscreen is extensively tested in an independent lab and in everyday conditions. That's how we can confidently guarantee the SPF of our products.

Because our sunscreen boasts a zinc oxide-based (mineral) UV filter, you might notice a slight white cast after applying it. This happens because mineral sunscreen doesn't absorb into the skin; instead, it leaves a protective layer that reflects those sun rays. Voilà, instant protection! Fun fact: We've worked really hard to make sure our sunscreen leaves almost no white cast on the skin. And if we do say so ourselves, we think we've nailed it pretty well.

We believe that mineral sun protection is better than non-mineral. But we also know there are small drawbacks (a slight white cast, less spreadability). Our goal is to create an uncompromising mineral sunscreen, and that's why we enhance our formula every year. In principle you can use all products from the baby line for your newborn baby. But baby skin does not need much, so we advise you to start with the bath- and baby oil, together with the diaper cream. For the very dry spots, you can use the nurturing cream.

We advise to add the washgel, shampoo and body lotion only later on. In the unlikely event that your baby experiences an allergic reaction or eczema, it is always advisable to consult your doctor before using any new products.

As the sweat glands of a baby are not yet fully developed, they can become blocked when your little one sweats a lot. This causes small bumps and irritation, which both you and they don't like!

What to do? Do not apply a nurturing cream for the moment, but instead use a cream with zinc oxide, which does not clog. To prevent the rash from getting worse through scratching, it is best to keep the nails short.

And of course, prevention is always better than cure. Dressing your child lightly will prevent excessive sweating. Keep them out of the sun as much as possible is important. But beware: even in the shade, it is important to use sunscreen.

Our creams are suitable for every skintype. The difference is in the in the skincare routine. In general, we advise the following as a base routine per skin type. Of course, every skintype is different, so keep trying out what works best for you.

• Oily skin: Good cleansing (washing 2x with a mild cleanser) + a hydrating product like a daycream. Our nightcream also works well for oily skin, but your skin may already have enough with an extra cleanse and a daycream.

• Dry skin: Next to the nourishing day cream, definitely use the night cream, too. This helps to repair the skin overnight. Do not cleanse your skin more than once a day (with a very mild cleanser).

• Normal skin: Protect your skin against UV-rays with a daycream with natural sunscreen and some extra sunscreen during a sunny day. Complete your routine with a nourishing day cream and night cream, that contributes to replenishing the skin. Before you apply these, you can cleanse your skin 1-2 times per day with a mild cleanser.

Our Naïf Nurturing Cream is rich in anti-oxidants from tomato extract. This is equivalent to SPF6, with which you are protected against UV rays to a certain level. However, we advise you to use sunscreen additionally when you really go into the sun.

Our shampoo is suitable for every hair typ - natural and dyed hair. It is the sun and cleansers like SLS and SLES that significantly contibute to drying out and discolouring your hair. Our shampoo does not contain this. Instead, we use SCS (which stands for Sodium Coco Sulfate), which is a natural substitute made of coconut.

One pack of usual baby wipes contains 58 grams of plastic. That's 2 1L PET bottles!

Naïfs Plastic Free Baby Wipes do not contain plastic, since they are made from eucalyptus  fibers instead. Through this, we hope to contribute to a plastic free planet. Please do throw the wipes in the residual waste and not in the loo.

Our water wipe consists of 99% water (makes sense huh?) and our lotion wipe contains aloe vera juice and bamboo extract. Compared to water, the added ingredients in the lotion will help moisturize the skin and is even more gentle and soft. Perfect for sensitive or damaged skin!

Stay away from wipes with parfume. In addition, try to stay away from wipes that contain (chemical) preservatives like phenoxyethanol and parabens. You don't want to use those on the sensitive baby bum. Phenoxyethanol is bad for your skin and can cause eczema.

No, never flush your wipes through the toilet. The sewage treatment plant prefers not to have any wet wipes flushed through the toilet, even when they are biodegradable. This is also the case for Naïf baby wipes. The wipe does not dissolve fast enough to prevent blockages. Next to that sea animals can suffocate in the used wipes and we don't want that to happen ofcourse! So best to put them in the bin.

Once used, you can dispose the wipes with residual waste. Because the wipes contain feces, you cannot dispose them in organic waste bins. This is to prevent potential medicine residue to end up in the compost. If you're making your own compost, you can use you wipes for this.

Naïf wouldn't be Naïf if it couldn't be. So yes, this is certainly possible. Especially since your skin is subject to change and it needs extra care during pregnancy.

Are you suffering from dry skin and itchiness during pregnancy? We've got a few tips for you - the main one being: don't itch it! But other than that:

• Drink plenty of water.

• Use mild shower and bath products, without strong foaming agents. We recommend our milky baby bath oil.

• Cream your body with a nourishing and softening balm or oil

• Also consider the fabric you're wearing. Go for soft and natural fabrics to prevent itching and excessive sweating. For example, choose organic cotton, satin and linen rather than acryl or polyester. Tip: also do this for your bedsheets and wash everything with a natural detergent without fabric softener.

Keeping your skin hydrated can help with stretch marks, but cannot prevent them since they're genetically determined. But you can support your skin during changes in your hormones and belly. With a belly balm you hydrate and support your bump. This ensures a supple skin and helps it stretch with your growing belly (and little one!). Or choose a relaxing pregnancy oil and give yourself a little connective tissue massage. Apply the balm up to three months after giving birth to boost your skin recovery. Doing so gives you a little me-time as well so we don't see any downsides!

Next to taking care of yourself with nourishing products, also make sure you drink enough water, not shower too long and wear some supportive pregnancy wear.
