Impact
Tiny Miracles: community, independence and empowerment
28 February 2025

Naïf teamed up with Tiny Miracles, an organisation that helps women in India become more independent. Making impact by offering fair wages, (mental) health and social support and creating a future in which they are secure and feel empowered. We got the chance to ask two of Tiny Miracles’ workers, Rizwana and Namita, all about their work and all the positive impact the organization has on their lives.
How did your Tiny Miracles adventure start?
Rizwana: “Many years ago Tiny Miracles’ work actually started in front of our house in Chikkalpada chawl. After the lockdown I wanted to work and got in touch with someone from my neighbourhood who already worked at Tiny.”
Namita: “My sister used to work at Tiny Miracles and she told me about it. I decided to start my training, came to the organisation and I liked it. So then I decided to apply for a job and I got selected.”
How has working for Tiny Miracles changed your life?
Rizwana: “I was a housewife with small children. After the lockdown things got really hard, so I had to start working. My work has given me a lot more confidence and it gives more opportunities to my children. They would not be able to study and find a good job without my work. Now, looking back, I still wonder what would have happened to me if I had not worked.”
“It’s also really good to be busy like this. It’s a very good life and exactly what I wanted. If I need something for the children, I will go out and buy it. I don’t have to ask my husband for permission, or wait for his salary to come in. This is what it is like to stand on your own feet.”
What do you like most about working for Tiny Miracles?
Namita: “Working for Tiny Miracles means having a community. All these women are working together, having fun. We are neighbours and friends and we all work in one place.”
“It’s also different from working for other companies. There is no work pressure, you come in and you do the work without anyone telling you “do this, or do that”. Everyone is friendly and respectful.”
