Functional ingredients
Functional ingredients do exactly what the name suggests: they have a certain function within the product. The function depends on the products, but it can be about hydration and moisturizing (in a body lotion), protecting (UV filter) or cleansing (in a wash gel or shampoo).
You can split this category into four different kinds if ingredients: emollients, humectants, surfactants and UV filters.

Emollients we use
There are two types of emollients:
Emollients that provide a smooth and silky feel on the skin. They are used to improve the texture or spreadability of the product. Examples: Decyl Oleate and Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides.
Plantbased oils are also considered emollients. They are essential for moisturising and protect the skin. Plantbased oils form a barrier on the skin’s surface to prevent moisture loss and improve the skin texture. Examples: sunflower oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, macadamia oil, avocado oil and shea butter
Humectants we use
Humectants are ingredients that hydrate. They attract water from the skin ánd the environment and bind it over the skin to support hydration. Humectants are generally paired with emollients that retain moisture and enhance their effect.
Surfactants we use
Surfactants are ingredients that clean the surface of the skin. They remove dust and impurities from the skin that water alone can not get off.
Everything you need to know about our UV filters
UV filters protect the skin against harmful UV radiation. There are two types of UV radiation: UVA (aging) and UVB (burning). Our UV filters protect against UVA and UVB.
