Plantbased glycerin
Plantbased glycerin is a humectant* and a skin barrier agent* generally obtained from coconut oil or palm oil**. It supports the healing of dry and cracked skin, by improving skin barrier integrity. Glycerin is not enough to moisturize the skin on its own. It needs to be paired with at least one emollient (for example plantbased oils).
Cons: When added in high concentrations glycerin can feel sticky.
Good to know: Glycerin occurs as a natural moisturizing factor (NMF) in our bodies!
