NAIF SKINCARE FAMILY 18 DECEMBER 2021-218

Not only is it starting to get a lot colder outside, we also wash our hands way more frequently nowadays. During winter, our skin needs a little extra love. Dry hands, scuffs and even eczema are a lot more common when it's chillier. That’s why it is a great idea to take extra good care of your hands. How? Naïf has some tips for you.

1. Apply a thick cream with natural ingredients

We’re shouting it from the rooftop: applying hand cream is super important! Make sure you have a hand- or body cream with natural ingredients in every bag that you carry around and use some just before you get out the door. Want to know a secret? We always use Naïf’s Thick Cream, it does the trick every time. You can also use it with extra dry skin and eczema. Oh and a tip from us to you: also rub some into your cuticles, this stimulates blood regulation! Naïf Nurturing Cream, €14,95.

2. Wear gloves, always!

Taking a stroll? Gloves. Cycling? Gloves? Grocery shopping? Gloves. Dancing in the rain? Gloves. Better safe than sorry, as the saying goes. Dry hands are caused by the cold, so put on your gloves before you step outside. We prefer gloves made from natural materials because those allow ventilation.

3. Use hand soap without SLES

Did you know that lots of hand soap brands use chemical foaming agents such as SLES? These ingredients can dry your skin. Now that we need to wash our hands more regularly, we prefer soaps with natural ingredients. Take for example our cleansing hand wash, with coconut oil. Lovely!

4. Cleaning? Protect your hands!

We’re not messing around. Cleaning supplies can be harsh and often contain SLES that take away the protective layer of your skin. That’s why you should always use cleaning gloves.

5. Make a habit out of applying hand cream

Stepping outside, going to sleep, or just finished washing your hands? Apply some hand cream first! If you make a habit out of applying creams, you’ll never get dry hands.

6. Gently pat your hands dry after washing

Refrain from air dryers or rough hand towels. Treat your hands like you would treat your face: nice and gentle!

7. Check the humidity in your house

Working from home? It is important to keep a check on the humidity in your home. When the humidity is too low, this can have a negative effect on your skin. The ideal humidity lies between 40% and 60%. How do you get it there? Open a window every now and then, and don’t forget to let the steam escape your bathroom after showering. Plants can also help regulate humidity. These plants can regulate humidity.

8. Scrubbing

It might not be the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of dry hands, but a nourishing scrub with gentle exfoliating particles can improve cell turnover and blood circulation. After scrubbing (once or twice a week), apply some nice thick cream to your hands. Tip from Naïf’s Eliza: “ The face scrub from Naïf is mild and nourishing enough that I also use it for my hands”.

9. Jewelry…

Some people have eczema on their hands or between their fingers. If this is you, then all of our tips above are highly recommended. Remember to take off your jewelry before washing your hands. Water might get trapped under your rings, which can again cause or worsen eczema.
